Subtitles
Your eyes jump to the bottom of the screen. You catch the words and miss the whiteboard, the demo or the chef's hands.
A Dub button for the videos you love
PigPog turns a video's captions into a natural voice in your language, right inside the player you already use.
Reading vs. listening
Subtitles
Your eyes jump to the bottom of the screen. You catch the words and miss the whiteboard, the demo or the chef's hands.
With PigPog
The words arrive as a voice in your language, and the original sound steps back. Your eyes stay on the picture.
How it works
On a site you already use, in your browser.
Pick once. PigPog remembers.
Speech follows the picture, even when you pause or skip. Stop brings the original back.
Voices
Japanese is read by natural voices such as Nanami. Try it during the beta; quality varies by language.
PigPog started with Vietnamese, which has its own dedicated voice, Mai Chi, tuned to stay clear through a long talk. Japanese does not have a dedicated voice yet.
Where it works
Chrome on a computer and Safari on iPad, in the browser rather than inside an app.
Videos need captions or subtitles. Some videos won't work yet, even on these sites.
Privacy
PigPog works from the video's captions. It never records your screen, microphone or camera.
Nothing is sent until you tap Dub. Then captions go to PigPog's service to be translated and spoken, and aren't stored. It needs an internet connection.
This website has no analytics or ads. Its only cookie remembers your language. The privacy notice has the details.
FAQ
PigPog reads a video's captions, translates them and speaks them aloud in your language, while the original sound is turned down. The video keeps playing on the site you're already using.
Videos with captions or subtitles on supported sites. YouTube and Vimeo are being tested first, with more sites on the way. Videos without captions can't be dubbed yet.
No. The video stays on its own site and plays as normal. PigPog speaks along with it, and pressing Stop brings the original sound back.
That's the plan. PigPog is being built for Safari on iPad and Chrome on a computer. It works in the browser, not inside the YouTube app.
When you press Dub, the video's captions are sent to PigPog's service to be translated and turned into speech. PigPog doesn't work offline. This website has no analytics or tracking. See the privacy notice.
Pricing hasn't been decided. The beta is invitation-only and there's nothing to buy.
No. It's an illustration of how PigPog looks on a video, not a playable demo.
Private beta
We're preparing an invitation-only beta for Chrome on a computer and Safari on iPad. Public access isn't open yet, so there's nothing to download or sign up for today.
It's free during the beta, with usage limits. Pricing hasn't been decided.
